1. Original Emirates ID
   Please note: Visa copy may be required if the designation mentioned in the Emirates ID is not the same as in the stamped visa. Emirates / FlyDubai cabin crew must provide visa copy if the profession is different in Emirates ID.
2. The eye test must be completed before the RTA file opening. It can be done at any of EDI’s main centers (Al Qusais/Al Quoz) or at any RTA authorized optical centers in Dubai.
3. A valid visa issued in Dubai
4. Valid & original driving license issued from other-country of the same vehicle category (if any): 
   The license must be legally translated only from Dubai if the driving license is not printed in English or Arabic.

Female customers (less than 21 years) wanting to take training by the male instructor :

6. No objection letter signed by the sponsor (father /husband). No Objection letter to be signed by self (only for UAE nationals/employment visa holders).
7. Copy of Emirates ID
8. Copy of RTA learning permit

​Driver visa holders (excluding Taxi Company):

5. Medical fitness report from the RTA approved medical center/hospitals.

File transfer from other institutes in Dubai/Emirates:

5. Original RTA file from the previous school/institute (if registered before April 2017)

8. Valid /invalid learning permit (not applicable for other Emirates)
9. Training Sheet (if practical training has been taken)

Customer holding partner visa:

5. Copy of valid trade license.

UAE Marsom / Bedouin:

5. Valid and original marsom letter

People of Determination:

5. Original medical report from Rashid Hospital
6. Sanad Card from CDA if available (optional)

Pregnant women:

5. No Objection letter signed by husband
6. ‘Fit to Drive’ Certificate from the consulting doctor

FILE OPENING PROCESS FOR OTHER-EMIRATES
Mandatory documents required for applicants

1. On personal or family-sponsored visa currently residing in Dubai:
   • Valid passport copy & visa copy of the sponsor & applicant
   • Original and valid Emirates ID
   • Valid tenancy contract (Ejari) & electricity bill from DEWA*
   • Eye test report (After approval)
   • Declaration letter from the school or university (if the applicant is a student in Dubai)
   • NOC for professional help (e.g. housemaid, nanny, driver)
     *not required in case the declaration letter is available 
      
2. On a company-sponsored visa:
   • Situation 1: Company has a branch in Dubai & currently residing in Dubai:
     1.  Valid passport copy & visa copy of the applicant
     2. Original and valid Emirates ID
     3.  Copy of valid trade license of the Dubai branch of the company. The company name must match the name on the trade license.
     4. NOC to clearly mention that the applicant is working in the Dubai branch of the company.
     5. Eye test (After approval)
         
   • Situation 2: Company does not have a branch in Dubai & currently residing in Dubai:
     (e.g. Applicants on investor or partner visa from other-emirates do not have a branch & currently residing in Dubai)
     1.  Valid passport copy & visa copy of the sponsor & applicant
     2. Original and valid Emirates ID
     3.  Valid tenancy contract (Ejari) & electricity bill from DEWA
     4. Eye test report (After approval)
     5. NOC issued by the company from other emirates if they do not have any branch in Dubai

Incase of any test failure, below process applies:

• Failure of RTA theory test: Attend 8 theory lectures. Available online Student Portal or classroom lectures.
• Failure of RTA road test: Book and attend 4 hours of practical training.

Please note:

• Students can opt to register for either Automatic or Manual gear. However, please note that Automatic license holders are not allowed to drive a Manual gear vehicle.
• Students registering for 15 or 10 hours of LMV training must appear for a Pre-Evaluation Test to evaluate their driving experience.
• Simulator Training: All students registered for 20 hours sessions will have to attend 1 session of Simulator prior to starting their practical training.
• Solo Training: This is mandatory for 20 hours sessions course and is optional for 15/10 hour session.
• Those who have a valid UAE Driving license from any Emirate other than Dubai need to get their driving file transferred from the other-emirate to Dubai RTA before opening a file for any other vehicle category.
• In case a student incurs a UAE traffic fine, they will not be eligible to enroll unless the fine is paid.

Training Rules & Regulations:

• Please always carry your Emirates ID, and RTA learning permit while attending the practical training, lectures, and tests.
• You are requested to report for all your practical training classes on time. You’ll be marked as “ABSENT,” should you fail to report within 10 minutes of your class starting time. Once marked “absent,” you’ll have to take the compensatory class by paying for that particular class.
• If you wish to temporarily stop your training, you must inform your course in-charge 24 hours before your scheduled training time. If you fail to do so, you’ll be marked as absent for that day.
• In case your instructor is absent, we will try to arrange some other instructor for that particular class.  Should we fail to provide another instructor, we will extend your training accordingly.

All students who register for 20/15/10 hours must attend 8 theory lectures available on weekdays and Fridays. Lectures can be attended online (e-lectures) in English, Urdu or Arabic or at the main centers in Al Qusais and Al Quoz centers. 

NOTE: The students must bring the Emirates ID and RTA Learning Permit to attend the lectures.

RTA's Remote Interpretation System (RIS)

The service provides a remote instant interpretation of driving theoretical tests, conducted by RTA, to driver license applicants for as many as 195 different languages. The step is part of RTA's endeavors to enrich the Smart City initiative and realize its third strategic goal - People's Happiness

How to use the RIS service?

• As per RTA guidelines, students have to submit an application for appointing an interpreter in the preferred language at the time of opening the RTA file and pay the applicable fees.
• This service cannot be added at a later stage while booking the Road Test.

Fees:  An additional fee of AED 420 will be charged for availing this service apart from the regular exam fee of AED 310.

Remember to:

• Obtain your RTA learner's permit prior to your first driving lesson and carry it with you throughout the training period. Renew the permit once it expires.
• Attend your first and all subsequent driving classes and tests with necessary lenses/ glasses.
• Not be absent from classes without informing the concerned reception staff 48 hours before class time or you will be charged for the classes.
• Make proper payments for training and tests on time to avoid unnecessary problems/delays.

Please ensure to carry your Emirates ID & RTA learning permit, a male permit** and original country license (if any) at all times. 

*You must carry the original and valid other country driving license to appear for Pre-Evaluation test
**If a female student below 21 years wishes to be trained a male instructor, a male permit must be obtained for AED 10.
